Get a Physical Address!
To increase your chances of locating an individual or business, always ask for a customer's physical address, phone number and if possible a social security number. All of this information will be helpful in tracking down individuals.

Start off on the right foot
Avoid collections problems from the start by running credit checks on new clients. Also by discussing your prices, service fees and payment requirements before doing any work for that client. Make sure to carefully check credit references of each new account.

Extending Credit
Make sure that you always explain transaction terms thoroughly, make sure that accounts know when payment is due, and clearly detail any credits or penalties for early or late payment. Also try to avoid extending more credit than necessary.

Overdue Accounts
Make sure to immediately send statements and reminders of payment due dates. Make phone calls if necessary.
